With modern frames it really depends on how the bike fits you. You can always make subtle adjustments in terms of crank length, stem length and height, bar angle, seatpost height and setback blah blah blah to fine-tune it to you.

I've got both 56cm and 58cm frames with relatively high seatposts and short stems (longer legs than reach). When TBC prodded me with his measuring devices and pointy sticks he told me I could probably get away with 60cm frames on some models from a stepover point of view. The service didn't extend as far as phrenology.

Sent the gentleman a text noting my interest. There's another interested party but ya never know! From the reading I've done it seams it would be on the small side but can 2cm really make that much of a difference?

56cm 1 year old ribble winter frame and carbon fork went for £86 on fleaabay earlier last week - kicking myself for not bidding, I looked with 20 minutes to go and thought it was about to jump through the roof. Obviously didnt...

The Dave Yates looks purdy.

The Tricross looks like a great buy. I'd get in touch with seller, look to view it then if it fits say "yes please I'll have it, I just need to get in touch with my private banker and transfer money from the offshore account can I come back and buy with cash in a few days?"

I saw a Dave Yates framed bike on Ebay curently at 170 quid (reserve not met) but unfortunately its too small for me.

That Specialized looks nice btw. Too small for me though, good luck getting it.

Ha! There was, but no-one ever got back to me :(

<rant>What a surprise. When I first heard the Council was planning a bike discount scheme I tried to find out more. No-one I spoke to had heard of it. I bought a bike from EBC and a couple of weeks later the Council Bike to Work was launched. My colleague got a bike from it and used it to get to work just once. She still managed to feature in the brochure for year two of the scheme, saying what a great idea it was. </rant>

That's a lot of bike for the money. Good luck. Isn't there some Council scheme to provide bike storage?

@Mabs, a number of users here have innovative cycle-storage for inside their flats (Spytfyre is one off the top of my head)

I think chdot found some bike hooks in a pound shop.

You could rig up soemthing for your flat I'm sure.

Bikes are part of the family and deserve to live in the house.

I'd feel guilt leaving it in a garage over night.
We have shared bike storage in the basement. I really don't want to leave my bike down there to get scratched.
Hmm..

Saddest statement of these types of ads is always, "...from being in the garage for nearly all its life"

Just spoken to the council and I should be getting my cheque through tomorrow the day after all going well.
This means that sometime next week I'll have some pennies!

Fingers crossed this http://edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/31/73426431.html is still available.
