One bit that amused me was Sarah's son learning Swedish in preparation for the move...

"Will they understand us in Stockholm?"

My Danish friend assures me that she can understand Swedish TV which of course is available in Copenhagen as Sweden is so close. (It's not all x-rated you know.)

Yes... all that Nordic noir is old news to readers of CityCycling.
Lucyna Langlijne pre-dated Lisbeth Salander and the English translations of Män som hatar kvinnor. With Anth's help she may be available at all good browsers very soon. (Unless deleted for crimes against literature).

The recent genre of Scandinavian-based fiction goes back at least to Miss Smilla's Feeling for Snow (Frøken Smillas fornemmelse for sne - from 1992). This was based upon the tensions between Greenlanders living in Denmark and Danes.

I've heard that Professor Dawes and Lucyna Langlijne auditioned for this but were still under contract to some British thing.

The mean streets of København are filled with political intrigue and first class cycling facilities.
New Danish drama 'The Killing' featuring Copenhagen Police Department detective Sarah Lund. Detailed slow burn drama that gives a flavour of life in the Danish capital.
Local politicians fight over social housing, racial integration and providing new bike lanes (just joking).
Contains adult themes but less murders than Ystad in Sweden.
