If they are asking to use it for a not for profit purpose, then it is a different issue.</p> <p>I have had some of my photos used without permission and without attribution, which really annoyed me, as that is just plain theft. I've had quite a number of illustrations (aircraft mainly, a few warships, a nuclear reactor diagram or two!) where people have approached and asked to use them. I've always said yes so long as there is attribution as I originally did the things for my own amusement and to share with others (via Wikipedia mainly).</p> <p>I've had 1 or 2 requests for some of my photos on Flickr and again said yes. Again it's because I put them up there to share with people.</p> <p>I think I put most stuff under CC-BY-SA or even copyleft on Wikipedia. </p> <p>So that doesn't answer your question at all, does it? I think for me to change my mind it would depend on who is asking. I think the things I've drawn are so niche that no one has ever been looking to make a big profit out of them. If someone was, I'd be looking for the slice of the cake.
