There's usually a line of cars in the lane and the cycle path runs down the side so are usually on this, pull into centre of lane when I get to the front to get through the bus/taxi stramash outside Haymarket station.

Because the filter lane is left of the bike path it's usually pretty safe to filter to the front, although you can't account for idjits.

I normally go down the red bit for the a8 if it's clear but this then leaves the left open for other cars and forces you wide? I think it was my first time down that section. I'll maybe do it today and see how it flows.

Do you not move out in to the middle of the lane? If I were to cycle through there I would be in the middle of the middle lane, only moving back to the left when I was past the junction.

Is that the road comming down from Morrison Street? The downhill section with a left onto Dalry?
I had a close shave by the barriers at the bottom.
Was a bit down the hill with a bus accelerating behind me. Young nieve me thought it wouldn't risk it but it accelerated past, turned left almost squishing me into the railings.

It's ridiculous that he cut you off like that. Shame we're not allowed to deflate the tires of bad drivers

Nope, weirder, they were in the straight ahead lane to haymarket and decided to go down Dalry road instead. Despite there having been an empty filter lane for the whole time they were waiting.

What, so they tried to overtake you and then go back into the left filter lane? Weird.

Towards the end of that stretch I used to like to move into the traffic stream, since in any case you don't want to get pinched heading towards the station. I guess the layout is probably completely different due to the trams now.

Someone tried this move on me today:

I'm the one in blue, thankfully the line continued going.

I'm not sure if it's this spidey sense that you develop when you've been riding in traffic for a while, but I had spotted something weird about this van when I was some way behind it. Was going along side and straight when I saw him wiggle out, then just pull left while I was alongside.

It all had that slightly 'bullet time ballet' as I cycled round the front of the van at touching distance then somehow came to a stop alongside the drivers side window. The driver had the cheek to give me an annoyed look.
