But it was still faster than the ascent! The worst bit of the ascent is in the top part of the forest. It is spectacular and with a a great view of the bird/squirrel feeders.</p> <p>We went to the Mountain Cafe in Aviemore for the first time. It is an awesome (or ace to place me in my age group) base for cycling, both off-road and on-road. I took my roadbike. Lovely weather (though breezy) and I managed several mornings-worth of ride, including around Lochindorb (fantastic place) and up to the mountain railway (for the view?). Recommended. Oh - and lots of cake opps. </p>
