Chairman Mao sometimes used a Brompton on the long march, but then everyone in China had a bike in the good old days, look at it now.

SRD - I thought me and wee foldy were able to say anything on the helmets string as the title Helmets meant that nobody read it, except me, you and him and now you are telling everyone about the Rasta with the West of Scotland dialect detecting talent...

I would love to hear Bill McLAren say "chains, SPROCKETS and three speed hubs"

"I have already started talking about chains, sprockets and three speed hubs in the email exchange about this event."

I'm not sure if "zealot" is the only word...

Ohhh and from the other side.

My old school chums and I have been allowed out for a curry in memory of Bill McLaren. I have already started talking about chains, sprockets and three speed hubs in the email exchange about this event.

On the Brompton Talk list we have been discussing what world leaders did and didn't ride a bike.

Hitler did (dispatch ride in WW I), as did Musollini and Hirohito. Hirohito surrendered by bike.

Churchill, FDR, Stalin, Truman and Sikorski don't seem to have done.

Gordon Brown doesn't but Cameron does. Clegg rides a moped so he isn't sure what to do. Alex Salmond shows no sign of regular exercise but is known to like a curry which I think is a good sign in any leader.

The Dark Lord was spotted on a Brompton recently.

"the kind of person that attempts to create links from cycling to any other subject of conversation that might come up among a group of uncyclists, to rope the discussion back under control." and then there's people on this forum, who manage to take any discussion relating to cycling and link it to wierd and wonderful non-cycling things (my favourite so far is the rasta punk rock guy with an ear for accents...on the helmet thread if you don't believe me)
