The NI Bill will fall on 24th March when the Assembly is dissolved for elections on 5 May. The Bill will have to be re-introduced following the election, effectively starting the process all over again. As it is a members bill this will be up to the individual involved, if they are returned.</p> <p>In evidence to the Environment Committee the member stated he would have amended the Bill at the next stage to apply to children only and it is likely that, if he re-introduces the Bill, that this will be the case.</p> <p>So, not a victory for anti-compulsion campaigners as it is likely to return, but in quite a different format. Also, a majority of the Environment Committee seemed to be against helmet compulsion (official Sinn Fein policy apparently).
