Are you saying Laidback is loud? ;-)

Was a Challenge Furai... if I had ridden the Fuego CM would not have been able to listen to my incessant chat(!)
He did manage to sprint ahead out of earshot as we got closer to pub. I reckon he turned down his performance as he wasn't with the ERC.

CM as a guide was good though and we did some mods on way back using the Spokes East Lothian Map. I believe he did have an electronic device with him to log our route.

We crossed a rather nice area which had been the proposed site for open cast ming. Thankfully that will not happen now.

My cycling antics amused kids around Port Seton... I was obviously on the wrong bike.

No bricks were spotted but we did see a few chimneys on farms - evidence of the use of steam powered threshing machines.

I rode exactly that route yesterday, it's good. Came back via the Pencaitland railway path though (surface could do with some re-laying, down to very loosely packed gravel in places where there's been flooding that has washed away the finer whindust surface)

I had a very educational ride to Gifford in the company of "mad, bad and dangerous to know" David Gardner today.

Any initial concerns over the mismatch in head heights presented by our very different choices of bike (me on a road bike, David, and I'd better get this bit right, on a Nazca Fuego) evaporated as I found I could make out every word whether in front, behind or along-side.

I don't know whether to start with the route or the wide ranging topics of conversation. But over the course of our ride from Musselburgh Harbour via Cousland and East Saltoun to Gifford we basically put the world to right. Paths, helmets, cycle training, cycling abroad, recumbents (natch), cycling clubs and favourite cycling routes so engrossed us that we noticed not a single bird, animal or old brick.

Great lunch at the cafe in Gifford though we still felt the need of liquid refreshment at the Goth in Prestonpans. A folk club laid on suitable entertainment and with their rousing melodies still ringing in our ears we arrived back in Musselburgh though David still had miles to go. A thoroughly enjoyable time was had.
