but I always think if I were a bike thief I'd go for the bike with 1 lock first over the bike with 2 locks.

Even two humble cable locks are a deterrent.

Thieves want easy 'one tool, one hit' steals. Or buy something they don't like.

Bromptons don't get left and locked.

Pashley has a Granit, Abus cable and Dutch lock.

Someone told me that it's good to combine chain/cable with a bar lock as it requires the thief to carry 2 different sorts of tools. Don't know what the merit in that is, but I always think if I were a bike thief I'd go for the bike with 1 lock first over the bike with 2 locks.

The WPC giving the police report at the last Community Council meeting I went to said she have been told by a bike thief (who she had arrested) that he liked chain because it was so easy to cut or brake them...

in a previous existence I used to work for a garage. Phone call confirms that joe public has had his rather grotty Beemer, early 3 series attempted stealing. ignition barrel had been attacked and the keys wouldnt even slide in. We sat for 3 hours, cutting, chisseling and hitting the column until we supended towed it to the workshop where upon we used oxy to cut it of and fit a new column. To do this to a chain in public view would surely have been noticed !!!

"
The chain was left there and it looked like they had used an acetylene torch to burn through it.
