A friend returned from Manchester a couple of weeks ago and remarked on how bad it is here in Edinburgh compared with the cycle/footpaths there. Must be the drinking culture. I did ask if they ran as close to large housing estates as they do here and she thought the paths actually ran through even more built-up areas in Manchester.
