Also, properly fitted (with no sock showing over the top to act as a wick) they don't let water in at the top.</p> <p>I've also never been very fond of Goretex-lined boots for hillwalking in so carried my prejudice over from that. Infact I just don't like the stuff, don't believe it works. GoreTex is great for the winter splashing but they're still shoes - so they work best when you have waterproof trousers covering your ankles, otherwise the water goes in the top and turns your socks soggy! I'm sure they're only about 18 months old...</p> <p>Looking for a new commuting shoe and quite fancied the Shimano MT60 in TBC (since I have a gift voucher I can put towards them), especially since they are GoreTex lined. Any views?</p> <p>(incidentally a BikeRadar review of the shoes says that they were great, but there were issues with the 'retention system' - erm, those would be <em>laces</em>...) </p>
