splitshift - when you go to your picture and drop down the little menu above it with the email/ twitter/ facebook logo next to it, select "Grab the HTML/BBCode" bit, select the "BBcode" box and then copy and paste the code it gives you. It looks a bit like this (click for big)

This link shows how to access the data, but there isn't any advice on how to control the logging process.

At least you'll know what "they" know....

Of course the mobile phone neworks record the whereabouts of every mobile all the time so the data is already "out there" whenever your phone (any type) is switched on.

It seems that Geotagging is still only enabled if image file goes via Eye-Fi server, so Direct transfer to iPhone doesn't have it (will be there when card is back on wifi).

Still useful to be able to email when 'on the road' (and obviously you know where you are if you want to send straight to Flickr), but it seems a bit unfortunate. It must be easy to sort/allow??

My new big camera can handle Eye-Fi (and runs out of space quite fast) so I was going to start idly investigating card pricing, especially as newphone can act as a WiFi hotspot...
...or I can always just take the memory card out of the camera and stick it in the.phone, as long as I can be bothered to edit/convert to JPG from .NEF in-camera first.

I hadn't been aware of those Eye-Fi cards before - nice! I thought it was pretty cool when they fitted a USB port into an SD card, but adding WiFi is so much better.
Sadly my Canon Powershot ISS2 can't use SDHC cards.
Might consider one for my wee Pentax compact though...

The camera on my HTC Desire is OK - photos look fine on the phone screen, but the quality just isn't quite perfect on a big screen.

I usually forget to turn the GPS on for taking photos, so they are rarely geo tagged.

As some of you know I take quite a lot of photos, use Flickr etc.

It's useful to know where they were taken (as accurately as possible) which is why I got an iPhone as soon as they/contracts were 'affordable'.

The camera (3G model) was 'OK' but later ones are really pretty good for web use quality.

Main drawback of any 'simple' camera is lack of decent zoom, so I still have a 'proper' camera.

For a couple of years I've been using Eye-Fi cards. The Geo-tagging is pretty good in urban areas. It relies on mobile masts and wifi hotspots for triangulation, not satellites. In addition the cards uploads to your computer via wifi.

The newer X2 cards do this and other things - including sending pics over 'chosen' wifi and some hotspots direct to Flickr. (The only one I've managed to use in Edinburgh is Word of Mouth Café down Leith Walk).

Very recently they have added Direct Mode - "Uploads photos and videos directly from your camera to your iPhone, iPad or Android device in a snap!"

TODAY the updated iPhone app has been approved so it's possible to take 'long lens shots' and get them sent directly to your 'phone where they can be edited and e-mailed etc. (as long as you have a 'phone signal!)
