Hmm. I reported the Greenhill Trench too. Went that way for the first time in a while yesterday and its rate of growth is definitely increasing. I'll pop that way just now and herbal pic to FixMyStreet it too.

I contacted the council about Gorgie Road back in January/February got a letter back from the council telling me about what a good job they where doing but if I made them aware of areas which need improving they would look into this, I have sent them some pictures of pot holes e.c.t. but still no action!.

I told Clarence weeks ago that the massive 2 foot wide hole on the westbound junction of Strathearn Place/Greenhill Gardens could kill a cyclist - either directly, or due to evasive action required pushing you into the path of a car.

I got the usual email back but no fix yet.

Lovely

Market Street (between the cobblybit and the roundabout) is getting near to the point where there'll be no possible line which avoids the ruts and seams and bumps and jags. Apart from the Clarence-mediated overfilling of the big pothole sitting on the corner of Jeffrey Street the recent roadworks have only worsened the surface.

Can anyone beat Spylaw Park?

Spylaw is even worse than my face was when I was about 14. I liked to take the enduro bike up and down there now and again, just to feel the suspension absorb the worst Edinburgh could throw at it.

Riding home today on three very unsuspended wheels, I was heading out of town up Comiston Road, between Morningside crossroads and Greenbank crossroads. I was down to 40x28 and about 9mph, with all my energy going into swerving around potholes, riding into and out of potholes, and lots of body english to unweight the front wheels over potholes. I suddenly remembered why I tend to use Braid Road instead, and why I enjoyed so much the magic carpet ride of my full sus bike.

I also nominate the northern end of Kilgraston Road, which has so many unmended bits in the nearside area that it's impossible to get up much speed before cars heading for Blackford Avenue or Charterhall Road try to overtake. Actually, Blackford Road is pretty bad too.

Actually forget about London Road. Had occasion to cycle on Leith Walk a few times over the past couple of days. Absolutely appalling surface! Bits dug up during tram utility moving works then filled in poorly. Greenway bus lane crumbling. Medium sized potholes all over the place. In short, terrible bone shaking ride quality on either side of the road.

Parts of London Road are pretty dire for a main thoroughfare. In particular the stretch between Easter Road and Meadowbank Retail Park is crumbling, with potholes, etc. though some of the worst of these have thankfully been repaired.

The bottom of Gilmerton Road is pretty dodgy. Particularly if cars coming around the corner with you restrict your options or if you're in a ERC peloton.

It's probably better than it once was: http://tinyurl.com/3omebo8

Lauderdale Street; always a good one to test that bikes strapped to the roof arent going to work loose.

Most of Marchmont due to setts being so poorly maintained. The High Street is not great to go down either.

I'll second Commercial Street; the westbound run between Tiso and the Ocean Terminal lights is a mish-mash of uneven repairs and crumbling (original?) surface that rattles the fillings out of my molars. Can be fun trying to figure out where the bike/bus lane should start/finish though...

Whitehouse Loan (northbound) was fairly unpleasant at the weekend, mostly from wear rather than repairs. For poor quality post-work lumpiness the Ocean Drive ends of Lindsay Rd and Commercial St are getting quite hazardous.
