Only worn shorts (3/4 length 'baggies') for 2 days in the past month. Really it's not been warm enough. Thin craghopper trews seem best in the breeze we've had.

Had to wear gloves yesterday morning as it was distinctly chilly setting out. No jacket though, just a fleece with front zip for temerature control...

May need waterproofs this weekend mind.

I've been short sleeve and arm/knee warmering the last few weeks which I'm quite happy with the results of.

Although with my complexion it just looks like I've tattooed dhb on my right forearm. Keeps the sun off my lily white extremities too.

I have been feeling the cold in T-shirt, merino shortsleeve baselayer and shorts. Today I wasn't cold, it was duller but noticably warmer. With the lovely weather (apart from wind) we've had I keep forgetting it's only just turned May and is not infact June or July.

I have been wearing a light jacket in the mornings this last week due to near freezing temps (with frost). Even had winter gloves on yesterday (temp was 1 deg C when I left).

After 2 (more?) weeks of not wearing more than a tshirt, I somehow managed to leave this morning in sweat-top and bottoms. Sweaty indeed by the time I got to work.

@gembo Were the roads quiet due to people watching an event on telly? Some people even having street parties, very peculiar.

No idea, but there were plenty of cyclists out on the roads this morning. An army of keen golfers at Longniddry too around 11am!

The wind this week has been quite foxy - easterly in morning and then swinging round to westerly in the evening [well a couple of nights when I was late leaving work it seemed that way].

Was also raining slightly when I was out on the Lymmphoy Road with Child No 2, he was pulling some fair skids - more through braking too quickly than by design

Were the roads quiet due to people watching an event on telly? Some people even having street parties, very peculiar.

I cheered two female cyclists who were consulting a map at the end of the WoL path about 11am this morning as they were NOT watching the event.

Just got back from a run to Haddington. I wore a light windproof jacket for the first 1/3 of the way, until I warmed up, as there was a cool north easterly headwind coming off the Forth. Still kept a fleece half unzipped over my cycling top though. It only got warm-ish today between 1pm and 3pm, some of which was spent drinking tea and scoffing cake in a cafe. By 5pm as we entered the east of Edinburgh the wind was back with a vengeance, north westerly and bloody raining too.

So it's not really that warm. The damn wind is the problem. I suppose it's either sun (or cloud) and wind, or haar...

I don't think it's actually been that warm. It's been warm enough if you're in the sun and out of the wind, but otherwise it is still quite chilly.

But I spent a holiday in Singapore rowing with my then-boyfriend about the air conditioning - as far as I'm concerned, there's no need for it.

I think it might be a combination of more cyclists now since the weather is better plus the fact that many people feel they have to wear a hi-viz jacket at all times. So it appears that there are even more jackets now then in winter.

mabs - I know what you mean. I am a big sweater and have been in shorts and short tee (Marmite or Teacake with a Protective Japanese Sun that is too wee if others in wash) for several weeks. It starts off a little chilly but as RTC says you warm up. I detected a little perspiration on days with less wind and just the other day the wee flies have all appeared.

However, the guy who sits next to me is still in long sleeved specialized top quite heavy weight fabric) and long tights. You see, he feels the cold. Partly perhaps because I have seen more meat on a butcher's pencil but also I think just because he feels the cold.

What we all agree on is that it has been absolutely cracking weather since we started the 'Had a lovely ride today' string weeks back. And many of us have been taking massive detours on way to work or way home because it has been such brilliant weather for cycling in, whether we are wearing too many clothes or not. [maybe they all take their jackets off just round the corner from where we spot them as they are too warm now?]

If that's the only thing that leaves you confused, baffled and shocked about cycling then you're doing a lot better than I am.

Speaking of uphill and coats, there's nothing more uncomfortable-by-proxy than seeing someone wearing a shirt, tie, suit jacket AND an Altura Nevis (which I know from experience to be somewhat less breatheable than hydrogen cyanide) pop over the brow of a hill.

One of my favorite things about cycling somewhere is that it turns a breasy Scottish spring day into somewhere a bit further south, the more uphill you do the further south it feels.

I being a 'I wear shorts all year round' kind of man and one that rarely wears more than a t shirt even in the winter would like to know as to why so many folk out there have been wearing jackets during this gloriously warm weather?

Perhaps to fend off the UVA UVB rays?
Perhaps they have an aversion to sunlight like so many folk in Scotland.

I'm confused, baffled and shocked. Its bad enough being covered up while walking but they must seriously be melting while riding?
Madness I say...
