Wonder if they might use bikes for local deliveries.</p> <p>In motor trade the value of the mechanics' time is such that they call for parts and small vans drive manically around to feed them with the bits they need (eg Partco). As yet the plumbing and building trades still seem to be set in driving to the wholesalers and waiting to buy the stuff, extending the time on a job, rather than having the stuff delivered as they keep working/don't need to secure the job to go off-site. There's a big green transit van catching me up so I slow behind the other cyclists and sit up to pass when safe.</p> <p>Except I become aware of the van also slowing, and look again to see he's 5 yards behind and letting me out to pass. He then didn't pass as we approached a pedestrian crossing, which we both stopped at for the red, then let me go ahead (clearly seeing that up ahead the traffic was such that passing would have involved getting too close, and he would have to stop for a queue).</p> <p>And just when we were thinking of getting a plumber to come and give us a quote for a new bathroom... </p>
