<description>&#60;p&#62;It makes good sense to use differential pricing for parking bays - as market pressures clearly apply to their availability, the market should price them too.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;One thing that doesn't make much sense however is forcing people to move on after a given time. The market again will find a solution based on differential pricing. You can see this with 'first 30 minutes free' bays - there's no reason why George St couldn't be £2.60/h for the first 3 hours, rising to £20.00/h thereafter (or whatever figure is found to have the desired effect).&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The only problem is that parking fines would need to rise to take account of the savings available on higher charges. I suppose it could be £60 or 5x the unpaid fee, whichever is greater?

<description>&#60;p&#62;Yes but if you have to drive too/from your parking space then y ou need another car and another parking space. I think that's why so many people seem to &#34;need&#34; more than 2 cars.
