Heartstopping stuff! Not got much to add to the comments above, except cannot see how either vehicle (bus or giant pickup) could have done anything to avoid the situation that the cyclist put them in by <strike>creeping </strike> zooming inbetween them like that.</p> <p>I got a bit of a fright this morning at Roseburn when the driver of a bread delivery lorry stepped out from infront of his lorry right infront of me. There was a rapid intake of breath from both parties but fortunately disaster was avoided. I didn't see him for the size of his wagon and he obviously didn't see me for the same reason, or hear me because I was a bike. I was going around him as he was stopped in the bus lane (in a waiting box).</p> <p>This reinforces my opinion that bus / cycle lanes cannot also be loading / parking bays. You're thinking of solid ones perhaps? </p> <p>And needless to say it's quite common to use the oncoming lane to overtake ;-)</p> <p>However, the point about checking for PTW'ers or other cyclists already on the outside is a good one.
