Go metric and keep the MPH signs for KPH limits...

If you continue to idiot proof cars and drivers will become idiots. What we need is to make drivers think about their driving and the consciousnesses of getting it wrong. What we really need is Strict Liability.

"Look there is a pig flying passed the window..."

That method of methane producing transport is in the appendix of the 2030 blueprint.

"The overall vision is that, by 2030, Edinburgh's transport system will be one of the most environmentally friendly, healthy and most accessible in northern Europe." Look there is a pig flying passed the window...

SRD

That's the 'cycle friendly' bit.

I wonder what they intend to do between 2020 and 2030 after Edinburgh has become a Cycling City...

Unfortunately this story (and the Council's intentions) are all about small variations on the status quo and technological 'solutions'.

"DASHBOARD devices which tell motorists when they are speeding and "intelligent" traffic lights that give elderly people more time to cross the road are among a series of high-tech proposals to cut road accidents in Edinburgh."

Someone has added an intermediate technology comment on the EEN story.

"Tell you what would be impressive though, fitting stingers to all the roundabouts in Edinburgh that deploy when the lights are red."

From the EEN

...By 2030, the council also aims to benefit from a cycle network, an extended tram network, high-speed rail and a Forth crossing.

Dave Anderson, director of city development at the city council, said: "The overall vision is that, by 2030, Edinburgh's transport system will be one of the most environmentally friendly, healthy and most accessible in northern Europe."
