There have been reports of the Foodie festival suffering from Meadows Festival levels of mud and bogginess, so it's possibly that rather than the micro-burn on the opposite side turning into a raging torrent.

@edintravel replied (by DM, unhelpfully for anyone else following them) that Historic Scotland have confirmed that both cycle and foot paths are open..

Is this the bit of road next to the waffle arrangement you posted a wee while back? (computer says no to opening Streetmap) There was no flooding this morning. The cat's nick has been closed for a while because of rock falls though.

It did look as if some sort of do is about to happen since there were tents and stuff around this morning. But "until further notice" is a bit mysterious.

Ooh, I wonder what's happened there - just basic flooding? Or a more impressive landslide? Might have to ride home that way (using Wingpig's cyclepath alternatives).

A chap on a non-suspension MTB with average kinda tyres for his bike. He was a third of the way up Drumbrae South last night when I set out up the hill from the PC World roundabout. Caught up with him about halfway up and left him trailing in my wake by the time I reached the car wash.

To be fair, the only competitiveness there was in all probability my own and there have been many times I've just been thankful to make it up the hill on my ridiculously heavy MTB with its chunky MTB tyres without any cyclist (hill)walks of shame.

How many points would that warrant?

...when I'm on one of the bits of my commute that tracks alongside the M8 and I look across to see I am overtaking the motorway traffic. Puts a smile on the face and an extra zing in the pedals. Especially when considering a lot of the drivers are probably going from and to roughly the same places as me !

I love the Innocent path in summer, and my friend recently showed me a way (which I'm sure I've promptly forgotten and will get lost next time I try it) to go from there in a nice gentle sweep around to Duddingston avoiding the big hill, where you can sit by the beautiful loch surrounded by bunnies and ducklings - perfect. :)
(The way home for me is great too, again a gentle climb with stunning views to get back to the Commonwealth/Pollock Halls bit of the Crags and then the nice long whoosh down Queen's Drive)

Cyclingmollie - I really like those bike racks too! They also look like they'd be nice and versatilely easy to use (I never need to lock my bike there as I live quite nearby), the 'standard' kind can be a bit tricky for my bike with its dropped crossbar.

Also hello to MeepMeep, of course! :)
