I was pleasantly surprised to see police stopping traffic in favour of cyclists at various juctions throughout the route.

"They" (Fife and Central Scotland polis) were equally good on the Kinross Sportive.

I was really struggling up until the first stop at Kinross as the rain meant I had sooking wet and numb feet (lesson learned: Always remember to bring overshoes on long rides where the weather forecast is for rain). After Kinross the rain stopped and a high cadence / headwind helped my feet dry out :-) making for a far more pleasant cycle to the finish.

Food stops were great (I recommend the Fruechie gingerbread)

I was pleasantly surprised to see police stopping traffic in favour of cyclists at various juctions throughout the route.

I cycled from Livingston to the start making a total of 80 miles for the day (my longest cycle so far)

Rode on to Arbroath after St. Andrews but the weather was worse on the other side of the river and collected two punctures (including a staple on a shared footpath/cycleway..how did that get there?).

Still a good day and a big "Thank You" to the Women's Circle (not sure if I've got the name right) for the food and shelter in Kinross. Can't have been easy mopping up round hundreds of dripping cyclists. Thanks to to the police and marshals (from Sustrans?) along the way.

I had my full waterproofs on before I even go to Inverleith Park but was able to take them off again for the actual ride.
Got pretty wet going over the Cleish Hills, didn't bother stopping until Kinross. They were mopping the floor beneath our feet as we ate our lunch!

Cake stop at Freuchie was excellent as usual. 50p per cake, and 50p for a cup of coffee with endless refills.

Got rained on heavily again for the last three or four miles into St Andrew's.

A great day though despite the less than perfect weather.

Anybody else do this ride today ?

I quite enjoyed it - rained up to the lunch break in kinross, but pretty dry after that.

The hills seemed easier this time, except the wee stinger at freuchie - I was a bit on the slow side up that one.

As always, well organised, generally decent signposts, and a big clap for the round table at kinross for the splendid grub.

All good fun, immeasurably improved by some friends of mine who live near cupar (right on the route) bringing a cooler of beers for my crew - mind you cups of tea would also have been gratefully received !!!
