I've a wish to have any ceremony where I fall, should my demise occur when travelling by whatever mode, and a plaque set in the ground at that point.

Anne may your departure be a memorable one, of celebrating what you lived for.

I've got a mint sauce and flowers team jersey that would be excellent for this occasion.

I like to think that when my time comes people will cycle to the funeral, and also that on-one will be sitting morbidly in black. Oh, and people will sing happy songs.

I didn't know Anne, but it sounds like she had the right attitude to life. RIP.

I've been asked to post a message for anyone who may have known Edinburgh cyclist and CTC stalwart Anne Carter, but doesn't know about the arrangements for her funeral/life celebration.

She died recently from cancer.

Some comments in emails

"Anne was everything to everybody. She could have been a much loved sister or daughter. She was caring but practical and efficient, mischievously comical and, the reason that we all knew her, an enthusiastic and accomplished cyclist."

"Anne's funeral will take place at 12 00 on Monday, 4 July in the large chapel at Mortonhall crematorium. The family has asked that no black, funereal type clothing be worn although, for those cycling to the crematorium, a bright top with black shorts or tights will be perfectly acceptable. Those people cycling to the funeral might like to meet beforehand at the Klondyke Garden Centre on Frogston Road for a coffee from 10 45 to 11 40. After the funeral there will be refreshments at the Tusitala situated between Morningside and Fairmilehead (see http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4608307 for the route)"

"Any donations in memory of Anne should be made to Marie Curie Cancer Care"
