One reason I'm glad I moved out of the city. When I first got a permit in ...1996, I didn't see that at the end of my cul de sac (Glen Street) the last few spaces were 'pay n display'. I received a £40?? penalty ticket, which doubled when I parked on Chambers St (right outside the parking wardens house), and in my haste didn't pay for as I went off to pay my fine at the Council Offices where the Hotel Missoni now stands.... Had to buy a ticket and then go see the man in the boothe again.... :-(

Complete with one of those strange ENews polls -

"

Do you back the latest parking restrictions being introduced in the Capital?

Yes, residents must be able to park outside their house
No, it is just another way to fleece cash from drivers
As long as they are part-time then it’s fine
