<description>&#60;p&#62;At least one of those they are closing is Pilrig Park, but not the well-used play park at the corner of Pilrig road, but the one over nr Balfour street, which tended to get a lot of antisocial behaviour - eg fires on/under slides. Probably not a bad call, even if it is disappointing to have any closures. I don't know any of the others well enough to judge, but there is a list on the second page of the article. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Gavin is right though - maintenance is a bigger issue, but sadly not a vote-winner.

&#60;p&#62;Saughton Park with all its skatebaords to get another £180K. Luxury.  Not clear which parks they are closing (seven that have come to the end of their usefulness apparently).  What will happen to these derelict parks? Could they become derelict parks for teenagers to hang out in rather than the upgraded parks getting trashed (according to the quote about Harrison Gdns on the article)?. Or could they be sold off to fund the new upgrades?
