Well, it can confirm it is white, but its light is red, and it is rather bright...

Seems a good buy, never thought I'd be considering using it in August, but with today's gloom I may be putting it straight on the bike...

(jeez that is not a good double chin minimising angle)

In my personal and humble opinion, flashing is good for catching the eye and drawing attention to yourself and fixed is good for helping the brain/eye of the beholder work out your relative position and speed. I tend to use one of each in the winter.[/quote]

same here. I always run a solid and flashing light front and rear

Ps, stepdoh - they have them on display at ebc if you want to check brightness.

Steveo - i hadnt spotted that, but you are dead on, just looking at mine now, and the lens and led are all clear until i press the button - i prefer the witchcraft expl'n

'tis not witchcraft but a process much closer to our hearts. Doping! LED's are chemically doped to make them certain colours, the colouring in the lens isn't necessary any more it just helps to diffuse the light if thats what your aiming for.

I would imagine the 'white' rear light linked to above actually pumps out a red light?

One assumes it is a clear LED emitting red light behind the clear plastic of the lens. Witchcraft!

Nope, flashing only is perfectly okay now - although it has to meet certain output levels, but I would imagine most h'officers of her maj's constabulary don't carry light meters or a copy of the lighting regs. That said, I always like a strong steady light, and a smaller, but still noticeable, flasher.

I would imagine the 'white' rear light linked to above actually pumps out a red light? We've got 'white' indicators on our car that are properly yellow when turned on. I'm not sure how they do it, but I'm certain it must involve witchcraft at some stage.

£25 worth of rear cateye for £12.50 is probably worth it. That looks less attachment-unfriendly than the bulky wedge-shaped one with the integral reflector which fulfils the British Standard which doesn't withstand being dropped very well.

Does the highway code not say something about red lights on rear and white on front, and if using flashing must have fixed too front and rear?

Anyways I use one of these on the back, top led set fixed and bottom flashing...

I have a pair of the predecessors it refers to (LD600, I think) which had just the 4 LEDs and no lens. It's bright and reliable and does the job. What more can I say?

The white and red will co-ordinate nicely with your ride.

I have these on my road bike and SS.

I like them, nice and wide, very bright (IMO) and seem to withstand rain and road muck pretty well.

Easy to clip on/off if you dont want the light fingered contingent to have off with them.

White not everyones sup of tea, but work ok on my bikes.

Hey folks, what with the nights fair drawing in (technically they are) and some [expletive redacted] taking my blackburn mars light with them when they stole my saddle I though I'd get a new back light in the summer sales.

Anyone any experience of these Cateye TL-LD610 LED White Lens Rear Light It's half aff.
