Use a hammer.</p> <p>A friend of mine gave me an old kid's MTB but it was locked to itself and he had lost the keys. We got out his tool kit, and I was about to start sawing with a hacksaw when I thought I'd bash it a bit with a hammer first. Three (yes just 3) blows from a medium weight hammer on the protruding lock barrel (the straight bit of the D) and <em>pop</em> went the lock. 30 seconds work.
