As they say Glasgow is the biggest Irish city in the UK outside Liverpool.

Before SPT, the Glasgow Corporation buses and trams were green, cream and orange!

Eastern Scottish buses were green and white. What with the Lothian buses being maroon and white, as a kid in the 1970s I used to think the different buses were for
Hibs and Hearts supporters respectively. Also couldn't help noticing SPT buses and Glasgow underground were...orange. Colours send signals...

Notice in the first tram postcard how the tram on the right has a catenary and the tram on the left doesn't. As caption suggested, Edinburgh Corporation tram was cable hauled, through slot in the road. Musselburgh tram was modern-fangled and electric.

You had to change at the boundary between the Corporations to continue your journey. I think same used to happen on Leith Walk before Leith was aborbed by Edinburgh. Same is happening in 3rd-6th tram postcards down. Not much to get nostalgic about!

Edinburgh eventually caught up and went electric. One of the winding houses was at Shrubhill. Preservation attempts have failed. Gembo has previously observed the slot in the road that has been preserved at Waterloo Place.

Musselburgh trams were red and cream. Edinburgh's were madder and cream. Apparently that's why the Number 15 busses were painted into red in the last few years of high-floor bus operation.
