Good spot!
I have to confess I am an IAM member through motorcycles, and yes, I appreciate they can be car based luddites a lot of the time, however, they have slowly been brought around to being sensible about motorbikes (and it has taken a while and exposed some anti two-wheeled bigotry believe me!). Whilst there are questions in the poll which annoy me, at least they are asking, considering bicycles, and giving eveyone, not just members, a chance to vote.
I will continue trying to change them from the inside as they are, like it or not, a respected voice in "road safety" policy and some of their stuff is actually very good.
Please everyone vote, and if you feel strongly, write/email to them, they have in the past responded positively to things I've suggested and as an organisation are sometimes surprisingly receptive to sensible suggestions. Even if their stuff is sometimes not what we would hope for in its early incarnations! ;-)

It shows a total lake of thinking on the part of IAM members, they don't think about cost, about the fact that a lot of children cycle, or even about why drivers require a licence. It is just knee jerk stupidity! We need to get rid of the "vulnerable road users" mentality, and concentrate "Castrating The Sacred Bull in Society's China Shop".

I must admit I have hoped for a more enlightened view from the Institute of Advanced Motorists, but it turns out they have about the same depth of thinking on road safety as Jeremy Clarkson. Sad really.

"Would you support the introduction of a licence or registration process for cyclists?".

Should just do an accurate one for cars. Some DVLA info is pretty out of date with people swapping number plates etc.

Now here a thing, the Institute of Advanced Motorists is running a cycling poll to gather views on things like "Would you be prepared for additional public money to be made available to make cycling safer in the UK?" and "Would you support the introduction of a licence or registration process for cyclists?".
