It's a Conference Bike:

http://www.conferencebike.com/

I'm pretty certain I read of a recent relay cycle for charity - possibly even on here. It was said to be very heavy and low (single?) geared so spun out at a slow speed but downhill runs were fun with all that momentum. The seating position was also reported to be poor!

Sorry, don't have the link to this hearsay!

The fellow with his back to the camera is the one driving/steering the contraption. The woman visible just to the left of him was travelling backwards. Any others then sit round the perimeter.

In fact looking at the picture again, it seems to be a 7-seater... and the driver could have a clear view between the two directly in front of him.

There's been something with a similar configuration down at Cramond in previous years but I think it only had four seats.
Which seat decides where the thing goes?

I have recently been to SF and spotted a different means of transport around the city - a six-seater bicycle...

All six people (if all seats were occupied) would help with the pedalling - hope the link works!

(picture is a bit blurry as I was chasing after it at the time!)
