During the day it rapidly dried out (no clear ice to catch the unwary) and was safe and clear to walk over.</p> <p>So 2 details arise - for the cost of bringing out staff and the fuel for the street sweepers we could drastically reduce the need to put down salt/grit with fallen snow. and paths could be cleared rapidly and efficiently with street sweepers which would normally be laid up ... because of the weather!</p> <p>So I suggest a regime - snowfall overnight - early patrol with street sweepers set to throw snow outwards rather than in to the centre (normal street sweeping).
