Mine were making a noise like something big dieing horribly even after being dragged for a bit. I ended up taking them in to tbw who scooshed then with some decontamination stuff and they were good as new. Apparently they can pick up oil from the road which works its way into the fibres of the pad and can't be burned out through normal braking.

When I was last at TBC, one of the guys there mentioned squealing as a problem with dirty disk brakes, and said there were products available. But recommended going fast and burning off build-up instead. haven't had to try that yet...

Cheers Bobert, I'll try this. I didn't know about the bracket, and assumed the brakes attached directly to the frame.

I've some Avid Juicy 3 and Magura Louise brakes - both are bolted to the frame, or to spacers on the frame, through oval holes in the brakes.

From the picture your Tektro brakes have the same ovals (shown without bolts in the referenced picture).

The Avid manual documented loosening these bolts a little, grabbing the brakes hard (NB with the wheel still in place!) and tightening back up the bolts with the brakes still on. This ensures the pads are flat to the disc and reduced/eliminated squeal.

Might work for you...

My Specialized has Disk brakes, which annoyingly shudder when braking with the rear wheel. My front pads are getting worn down as a result of using only front brakes.

They are TecTro Auriga Pro. Can they be bedded in? They are Hydrolic:

http://www.tektro.com/_english/01_products/01_prodetail.php?pid=102&sortname=MTB&sort=2&fid=1

so I assumed I would just swap out for new brakes pads like the car, but its the rear brake which is the problemnot the front which don't judder and hence get used more.
