When doing anti-natal yoga (horrible, horrible) a few years ago, I met someone who had just moved to Galashiels or somewhere like that because they were calculating on train arriving...Maybe they're the only ones. But it would be so fab to be able to get to the Borders by train/bike. We'd definitely do it. The 38s a great bus, it is just unbelievably infrequent and NEVER on schedule on weekends. I am the only person I know who has ever gone to Alloa but it was tricky to get to on public transport. Rail links don't seem to have incorporated Bathgate and Alloa into the housing market of Edinburgh? But if rail links in the borders were re-introduced it might lead to down sizing/ country living for a few? On other strings i have picked up that bikes on trains is now a reasonable success?
