snowed in balerno last night. v cold. Try the Sealskinz Thermal inside a goretex shoe - dry and not too sweaty?

Have tried plastic bags but they tend to make my feet sweat which quickly cools and makes my feet even colder.
-6 degrees out my way this morning, still, at least its dry and not a breath of wind.

Plastic bags are not ideal but they do work. Another useful thing is a folded news paper inside your shirt.

I used to wear four pairs of socks b ut now go for thermal sealskinz - they are warm. Previous posters have seriously suggested plastic bags. I quite like them rolled up like a mujahaddin hat on the head of a weegee avoiding rain but as overshoes I am not so sure.

I have used neoprene bootees in the past. They last OK. I never had any with straps, I've had them with Velcro up the back. The bit under your shoes will suffer a bit if you walk around in them.

On my early morning commute into Edinburgh (leave the house just before 06:00) I find that I warm up quite quickly, but after about half an hour the toes start to get cold. I have looked for overshoes to go over trainers but have been put off by user comments saying that the straps and stitching tend to go after a few wears. Anyone have any experience of this type of overshoe? I presume when it comes to sizing it is best to go for a size up from your normal shoe size.

Cheers
