<p>This would be A Good Thing. The centre would be much safer for cycling. HGVs are already banned from some roads. A big supermarket lorry thundered up Waterloo Place the other night and onto Regent Road, and I remember thinking what on Earth was the driver doing? I realised I hadn't seen HGVs on Regent Road except the odd film crew catering or lighting unit. I passed the offending vehicle minutes later as he had been flagged over by police and cautioned!</p>
<p>If only we could have this regime across the centre it would be so much nicer. Goods could still be brought in by smaller vans from depots out of town. They do it in many German cities, even Athens has an HGV ban during daylight hours. Why not here?

<p>"[...] the measures should include the possibility of an HGV ban, resurfacing of the Randolph Crescent and Great Stuart Street corridor and the diversion of traffic away from the West End and towards alternative routes from the west of the city to Lothian Road."
