"it would appear that a disproportionate amount of the page is given over to coverage of sport"

Even more curious is the fact that for many years newspapers have somehow failed to attract advertising to the sports pages.

So advertisers either think that most people don't look at the sports pages - or don't buy things.

Curious priorities for businesses that rely on advertising to pay for the content and printing of so many pages!

As with other Scottish newspaper websites, it would appear that a disproportionate amount of the page is given over to coverage of sport (where sport = 22 grown men chasing around a field for a bag of wind).

I have seen several other local rag websites that are exactly the same as The Scotsman

Probably published by the same group, they run lots of regional newspapers in England too.

It seems to be some kind of generic 'newspaper hsoting' software that they use. I have seen several other local rag websites that are exactly the same as The Scotsman - just as clunky, just as inflexible.

Looks like they are just upgrading to v1.1

It still looks horrible. It's still covered in enormous adverts (including those terrible rollover popups). It's still not clear to navigate. It's still the Scotsman.

Wonder if their journalism standards also being redeveloped?*

*doubt it
