I can get out onto the main road so easily. I also do not have to contend with the rat run that the street that I live on becomes during term times. A great many parents take time off when the kids are off to go on holiday abroad or elsewhere in the UK, so are not here driving around. I think that when the kids are at home, whichever parent has to look after them may not be nipping around town so much on post-school run errands. Not to mention large parts of the Gyle and Edinburgh Park empty, some even never occupied... The central location is a result of the transport hub for people living out of town (trins &amp; Bus Station), and also usefull for those still living in tenement flats but who also want to be able to walk/cycle to work.</p> <p>Our office has no parking, other collegues on the other end of town (Haymarket) had parking but limited to 6, which were usually empty when I worked there.
