Bah! I see how it looks bad, but its a storm inna teacup. I make terrible typos and outright spelling mistakes when I dont have time to run the magic finger of my posts and I cant ever recall being brought up on it.

Good thing too as I cant stand spelling pedants, a funny typo is one thing, just being an arse is another. Bikey12 is right in pointing out that bb rules are pretty standard and this place is unusual in its lack thereof but it doesn't allow us to be smug about it.

Some people on this are talking absolute nonsense.

Ah, you have noticed :) I find that it is one of this forums most charming aspects that such complete nonsense and tangents and non sequiteurs sit happily side by side with genuinely interesting debate, technical chat, news and views and a uniting love of all thing two (and even 3!) wheels. In my experience I have yet to find an online community where there are a more friendly and helpful and nice bunch of people, even if the charming nonsense is equally - or perhaps even more - present in "real life"

@bikey12 - I just read back through the string [it is a slow news night]. You quote me on the typos but in the quote I am referring to my partner who is a very strict person on spelling/grammar etc. She would not be seen dead on this website [my kids call it Bike MSN] As to this forum we generally do not pick up on spelling etc.

There is some irony in using a prescriptive and lengthy list of rules on a website [though thanks to you tonight I have learnt about phpbb] but missing a spelling mistake in the first rule. But I can also see that some of us here [e.g. me] are too sarcastic and given that we don't pick up on spelling it was not very friendly to pick up on the spelling mistake in the rule on the other website. I apologise again.

The forum rules on TrailScotland are generic PHPBB3 rules. They are on most PHPBB3 based forums as standard.

I know it is extremely bad form to answer or respond to your own commentary but I could not resist... on likening the trial (sic) Scotland forum to joining some secular religious cult, perhaps the wee frees comes closest or some real bunch of weirdos, faceless, total control freaks, who are jumping on the back of mountain biking as a means of making money. So the rules are, hand over all your possessions to me including your thought processes, you shall obey all the rules at all times or be prepared to face the wrath of a slapped wrist, public humiliation, and being thrown off, you will only post where we (the faceless members - does that ring a bell)think you should. Thou shalt have no humour, not use emoticons or punctuation marks to emphasise how excited you find something. I think as it is promoting Scotland the use of Scottish vernacular should be adhered to at all time, and not English...i.e. (another sin) like e.g. Angus Ogg, ra Broons or perhaps Oor Wullie, spelling like oot, troot, radge, irn bru. Anyway suffice to say I will not be joining their forum, which is probably a blessed relief for them ;-D. BTW chdot I think you should have a members counter, number of posters, who is accessing the account at any one time....you know!!!! LOL xxooxx

Oy, oy, magister, or perhaps thought police...do other forums have as many rules as the trail Scotland site? I am not entirely sure that sharing information about the site's existence is not a contravention of one of their codes of practice, at least not sharing without asking/seeking the team members (which does not include users) permission. Ridunculous!! Yes, you will receive a warning for any infringement, phooey!! They need to get over themselves frankly, worse than being back at school, will I put my hand up to ask permission, and what is that bit about posting in English only - support available elsewhere is that using babelfish or google translate? Double phooey!! Big raspberry...
