Obviously Halfords is a potential advertiser. (or a known brand)</p> <p>Bikes sold by other niche players are of no interest as they can't afford to place ads. So the less something is advertised the less it will be written about. Witness how much 'free' publicity brand leaders get - papers read and believe the ads and often quote PR directly as 'received wisdom'. Car and tech reviews are full of this stuff.</p> <p>Interestingly when doing my stint of advertising with the Big Issue last year I asked whether they might just consider a bike based article on (eg) the school run or bike use in Edinburgh.
