I have thought that pedestrians pose a threat for years, particularly come closing time, staggering around and falling off pavements!! Let alone randomly deciding to turn without signalling or just changing direction in front of you, or even stopping suddenly without warning.

I look forward to the implementation of this legislation and making everyone wear hi-viz, I feel a large FAIL coming on!! Eye-wateringly, side splittingly funny! Risible, you could not make it up...

I believe it is just trying to make a point rather than be an actual serious suggestion.

I don't support it
its a waste of time
you could use the same example of all cyclists being red light jumpers etc

There is currently an e-petition calling for the Westminster parliament to debate Helmets, insurance and training for pedestrians on the grounds that:

"Other road users have to pass tests to prove they are competant to operate a vehicle on the public highway. Pedestrians however are at the most risk and from any age they can walk around without any training, they are often wearing ipods and flout the rules of the roads e.g not stopping at traffic lights and crossing the road. I propose that all pedestrians must undertake training and be insured before riding on the road to protect themselves and others. They should wear hi-viz clothing and have helmets for their own safety"

Is this something which the cycling fraternity should support?
