Don't do it.

Well, I did do it. Actually I must have lost one of the bolts this morning or even before that and not noticed, but I did find the other bolt - lying almost where the cleat fell off. So I cranked it down tight and cycled homewards, managing to avoid unclipping that foot at all until I was home again. Whereupon it released just fine. So I got away with it once, but I'm about to fix it!

Don't do it. When I first got my clipless pedals I lost a bolt from my shoe and I found I was not able to unclip at all as the cleat just twisted. Put two into one shoe and ride the other without a cleat.

You can probably clip in and ride but I really wouldn't like to try unclipping quickly with a singly-bolted cleat...

This is absolutely bizarre. I've been clumping around at work in my bike shoes today and just now walking along the corridor noticed a clicking sound coming from my right foot. "Hello, that sounds strange," I said. Tap-tap-tap...clunk! and the cleat fell off my shoe. I didn't realise that the mud from a bike ride a month ago was actually structural. The bolts themselves have vanished.

I have several spare bolts at home to reattach things, but now have to see if I can manage to ride home with one bolt per shoe! I was planning to move the cleats back a little anyway but hadn't planned it quite like this.

Yep I have some. PM me your contact details and I'll bring them in tomorrow and can meet by mutual convenience.

EDIT. I've just bought a set of M520 peddles and it came with cleets and I'm hoping a few bolts. If there are any you can have them. I popped the plastic sleive on the side in my garage the other day.

Hi folks,

I have spare cleats ready to go on a new pair of shoes, but I can't find any cleat bolts. They're just standard Shimano SPD cleats.

Does anybody have a spare set of bolts I could scrounge?

Seems a shame to buy a whole new set of cleats just to get the bolts :(
