Never nice to have to replace stuff just as the winter starts.

Yeah, might as well wait until spring to get a nice new pair of hoops built!

Thanks. Found wheel in garage that was on blue bike. In good nick too :) Back wheel can last a bit longer (less braking). It will need rebuilding due to hub gear.

Amir - no they just stock Pros but will be happy to build on a Sport if you order and take them in. They can order Sports too but advised me possibly quicker / cheaper to source my own online.

I guy cycling in Falkland the other month had his rims wear out catastrophically when cycling into Falkland. Fortunately he was riding in on the road form the north not the steep decent from Lomond Hill. Had to get his wife to drive out and collect him.

Well I'd be fork out then. Bicycle works will do this at a reasonable price but for Open Pros. Might be a bit cheaper with Open Sport but I'll have to see if they stock them.

I'd say so! My Shimano R500s lasted about 5000 miles until hubs died and rims were badly worn (indicator line no longer visible)

I was trying to work out why my new brake blocks were juddering the front wheel on braking. The catch in the same place each turn. So I was feeling the wheel rim to check for any obvious distortion. What I did note was the rim is really concave. Does that mean it's time to replace the rims? Wheels have done 7k miles in commuting conditions.
