I'm referring to the new pedestrianised courtyard/plaza paved are opposite the end of Market Street. Makes a brilliant cut-through: just cycle to the big arch, dismount and cross on the spiffing new zebra crossing, then the smaller arch opposite gives access to St John Street, and thence to Holyrood Road and beyond. The sailor's ark. The jumper factory (closed for many years). The canon gate ventchie also closed for many years. The premier inn looks to be getting three pyramids of a miniature nature on the roof of its function suite, the little shops in the cellars under Jeffrey street looking good.</p> <p>So I weigh up the developments / improvements against world heritage. And I still err on the side with development.
