X is for Suntour:

XC-Pro (and XC-Comp, XC-LTD, X-1, XCM and XCE)

X-Press

and for SRAM:

X.0, X-9, X-7 and X-5

and of course the mighty (Deore) XT.

I had X-Press shifters on my old Trek mtb, and I loved them to bits. They were a bit fragile though because the trigger pads stuck out in 1st and 7th and were mounted on cast rather than forged metal arms, which broke if you crashed wrongly.

X-press shifters, made by a company from Taiwan called Suntour. They were about in the 80's, not sure if they are still available.

Xtracycle in the lead I think, interesting to draw and starts with an X. Would I be right in saying X-frame is defunct term? (I always thought they were called cruciform a la Old Faithful)

Simple -

"A cross frame having two tubes crossing in the middle was called an X-frame."

"

In England, a new bicycle fashion has started, that is used at the moment by several large manufacturers on the other side of the Channel as a means to wake up the community. This new fashion is that of the X-frame, and because it is about to come to our country, we consider it our duty to inform our readers of its existence and its practical meaning for the sport. ...

I'm trying to come up with one part of a bicycle for every letter of the alphabet. I've done 25 but completely stumped by "X".

I guess brand names could be allowed (I used Ultegra and Presta in it).

Anyone have any suggestions?
