here's the non-mobile link (there's 3 parts to the episode)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_xxJ7x2vTI

They're pretty funny and well made little films. "Cyclocross Legend" John McComisky does a grand job of explaining what it's "all aboot" in his central belt patois.

I took the family out to this event yesterday. We went with a friend and his son to watch Craig Hardie who unfortunatley had to retire with SPD problems.

It was a great race and I'm determined to enter one now. We also saw my friends neighbour who we had no idea had entered. I think he was thankfull of our cheering him on every lap, as he made his way to us afterwards and thanked us for the support.

PS and I made it out. The route we took was the north Edinburgh paths out to Cramond, and from there the straight Burnshot route to Dalmeny, then along the resurfaced section of Railway path into South Queensferry. Then into Hopetoun along the shore road, pushing across the slithery field after the silly anti-bike double gate and then passing Abercorn Church to head to main A-road towards Bo'ness. Onto the back road signed as route 76 and down into Bo'ness.

Back the same way initially, but turned off at Champany to Blackness then along the shore through the new bit of route 76. Bit slithery and slidy on my 25 slicks, but managed it OK with help of the bit of weight on the back wheel from the pannier. Rather than tacking up the big ski-ramp at Abercorn, we carried straight on into the Hopetoun estate deer park, which was the worst bit of the route, as estate 4x4s had been using the same bit of path as signed for the route, so it was quite deep and treacly mud.

Lovely day for a cycle, but unless you're on an MTB, the new bit of route 76 is probably best kept to summertime after a prolonged dry spell. It boggles the mind a bit that they would spend a lot of money putting in a large section of surfaced path (but not mettalled) only to leave it connected at each end only by a couple of hundred metres of muddy grass.

If I'm free (can't remember right now if I am! mental diary failing me) I'll join you*. A trip across the Bathgate Alps is always pleasurable.

John McComiskey (one half of the cult 'Dig In' YouTube CX show) has organised a CX race called 'Dig In Around the Dock' in Bo'ness. Details on Facebook (which I can't access just now...) - starts at 2pm I think. I've pencilled in to go along to take photos (some of my Auchentoshan ones are probably going to be used for posters for the event) and pondering riding out (and maybe back) if anyone fancies an outing.
