Maybe he felt it was time for a new bike?

I wonder if he would ever go for one without a saddle? Arellcat did ask him whether he had ever considered using a r*c*m*e*t.
He said 'yes' but thought it would take too long to acclimatise. That's true to a degree but when you live on a bike for months comfort is big factor.

Hang on... I think I hear a pro-Brooks / gel saddle with padded shorts argument heading this direction....

Hmm, yes I thought the same thing. Why is he having to wave goodbye to it? Strange half-story.

"I presume it's been given to the Transport Museum" okay that's news, but the 'journalist' should have copied more of the press release!

I presume it's been given to the Transport Museum - but...

"why is this news?"

Because someone sent a press release.

Oh, that's PR.

I found this story totally baffling. What did he do with it? And why is this news? (not a critique of it being posted here, but my reaction when I read it this am)

"ROUND-the-world cyclist Mark Beaumont has said goodbye to the bicycle that carried him 13,000 miles across the Americas.

The Edinburgh-based 27-year-old took his custom-made bike for a final journey in Glasgow before finally parting with it.

The bike, a Koga-Miyata, carried him on his gruelling journey across the longest mountain range in the world.

The adventurer, who became the fastest man to cycle round the world in 2008, completed his latest epic journey in February."
