The prosecution had a driver who had reduced their speed because visibility was almost "zero", she admitted to changing up to fifth gear and was therefore driving excessively fast for the light conditions....what a stupid woman, what is more she should not have been so close the the edge of the road assuming that Mr Stubbs was cycling the average 2 - 3 ft away from the edge/kerb. Who sang that?</p> <p>Anyway, it's the new Get Out Of Jail Free card for dangerous drivers who kill cyclists.</p> <p>CTC spotted not only the recent <a href="http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/9470538.Student_admits_blame_for_cyclist___s_road_death/">letting off of a teenage killer</a> (see threads passim), but also this ongoing case where a woman <a href="http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/news/2011/june/8/driver_blinded_by_sun.aspx">used exactly the same excuse</a> when questioned by police for killing an experienced cyclist. Doing 50+mph when you can't see ahead of you due to low sun? Really exemplary driving, not at all dangerous and of course it could not possibly be the fault of the driver... </p>
