@amir We had a nesting pair of bullfinches last year for the first time and were well chuffed when they started coming to the feeder on our kitchen window (we're a first floor flat). They are magnificent looking creatures.

They are having a good feed on next door's trees, but haven't touched the apple and pear trees out the back (yet).

I am always in two minds about bullfinches in my garden. On the one hand, they are right smart and nice to see. On the other, they are infamous for stripping fruit trees of their buds.

No sign of the coal tits this year, and the wood pigeons and redwings kept their distance, so they didn't get counted.

From memory, we had:
4 blue tits
2 blackbirds
1 robin
2 long tailed tits
1 chaffinch
3 bullfinches

Every year the hour I choose seems to signal the departure of every conceivable bird from the garden. Quite a lot flying over, but not allowed to count those, and was quite strict on it being in our garden, so all sorts got discounted.

Still, nice to sit with the chickens free-ranging (and remarkably 'chickens' are not included in the birdwatch).

4 House Sparrows
1 Feral Pigeon
1 Redwing
4 Blackbirds
1 Blue Tit
2 Dunnocks

All of the greenfinches, great tits, coal tits, robins, woodpigeons, collared doves, herring gulls, magpie, crows, bullfinches etc etc etc kept their distance. Pah.

I didn't do too badly this year, though some of my favourites stayed away it is better than pretty much everything staying away which is what usually happens!

Goldfinch 5
Blackbird 2
Robin 2
Blue Tit 3
Dunnock 3
Coal Tit 2
Woodpigeon

I got pretty consisitant bird action too rather than huge periods of nothing at all.
