Oh, and around schools at start and end times - these seem a little better respected/followed).</p> <p>When I rule this part of the World, all motorised vehicles will have a chip that detects where they are at all times, and limits their speed to the speed limit. Or, at least flags up when they have exceeded it, so that suitable punishment can be meted out.</p> <p>Regarding no.7 I would pedestrianise the area between -<br /> Warrender Park Road and Queen Street (South to North) and Lothian Road and Clerk Street (West to East). I assume when the idea says "extend off-road transport" it means for walking and cycling, not for 4x4s!</p> <p>But I for one am all in favour of remodelling the West Approach road as a key cycling route! Improved signage to make safer for pedestrians, cyclist and motorists<br /> 2. Reduce the need to travel to work, shops and work within walking distance – keep Edinburgh compact through brown field development<br /> 3. Extend 20mph speed limits<br /> 4. Cycling – upgrade cycle paths<br /> 5. Extend dedicated bus lanes (= car free lanes, my parenthesis)<br /> 6. Proper separated Cycle Lanes on roads<br /> 7. Pedestrianise Princes Street from Waverley Bridge to West end.<br /> 8. Enforce cycle lanes to see they are kept clear<br /> 9. Extend bus priorities by simple traffic management measures (= cycling priority? my parenthesis)<br /> 10. Strict enforcement of delivering mixed use development that permits greater use of walk/cycling for home to leisure (education, health)<br /> 11. Council needs to use the powers it already has to enforce better quality of workmanship, quicker reinstatement on utilities who dig up roads<br /> 12. A council subsidised LPG car conversion scheme to get the cars that do use the city to be greener.
