Which other tax would they like me to pay? Perhaps I should take up smoking and pay tobacco tax? Or maybe buy a Range Rover and leved it parked outside and pay some VED?</p> <p>It bothers me that money seems to be seen as a great stumbling block. Yes, money is required and ideally, lots more. However in the grand scheme of transport budgets and government financial mismanagement it is rounding errors. Roads and road-safety and public transport are financed out of general taxation.
