I sometimes used two blocks of polystyrene as a makeshift prop to get the back wheel off the ground, but that was never very effective.</p> <p>I eventually picked up a Park workstand in a sale, and it was absolutely worth it. Not industrial grade, may not live forever, but does a job. And cheap, obviously.</p> <p>As with much that I buy (bike-wise) from Lidl or Ebay, etc, I try to prove the usefulness (or otherwise) of a gadget or item of clothing and, if convinced, I'll buy a 'quality' one when the cheapo version expires. Using this er... system.. it's thumbs up for workstands (and bike computers and footpumps) and a 'nah..' for long lycra pants and snug fitting tops.
