im more than happy with my £50 EBC stand
if you look around you will see CRC,Ribble etc sell the same stand
so its a case of who is cheapest
though they can go as high as £90+ depending on pricing
its solid and the QR system is simple and solid
you get some wobble when turning the gears etc but nothing extreme
held fine for the Hope bleeding.meaning I could have them brimmed with little spill
honestly,I dont know why I left it so long

I bought Dave's old one for a very reasonable price. First time I used it I thought to myself "how on earth have I done without one of these"? Managed to build 2 bikes without one. Think the third will be easier now I have it.

Good Idea. I'm on the look out for a decent bit of clamp inspiration. Got a bit of spare box section kicking about for the stand part...... I'll post a pic when I'm done.

I built one from an old basketball hoop stand, sand filled base and the half section upright, it was a bit tall, but I just cut it and welded the triangulation supports back onlower down, attached a home made, clamp type thing and away you go !Just keep an eye out on the skips that always heve stuff in them that someone could use !

I used to hang my bike up using washing line looped under the saddle, then 'graduated' to gently clamping the front wheel in a Workmate to stop the bike swaying around so much when hanging. I sometimes used two blocks of polystyrene as a makeshift prop to get the back wheel off the ground, but that was never very effective.

I eventually picked up a Park workstand in a sale, and it was absolutely worth it. Quality, they say, is remembered long after the price is forgotten.

I bought the Lidl workstand. Not industrial grade, may not live forever, but does a job. And cheap, obviously.

As with much that I buy (bike-wise) from Lidl or Ebay, etc, I try to prove the usefulness (or otherwise) of a gadget or item of clothing and, if convinced, I'll buy a 'quality' one when the cheapo version expires. Using this er... system.. it's thumbs up for workstands (and bike computers and footpumps) and a 'nah..' for long lycra pants and snug fitting tops. Without wanting to get pitched into the technical clothing debate, polyester and elastane just don't go with my <cough> substantial figure...

LIDL's apparently do a good cheap one. Obviously only in the week they are doing workstands.[data remembered from previous threads]

EBC one when reduced is good - telescopic.

I suppose if you get really into it you would need a real one - Park or somesuch
