'(and it's not as if there wouldn't be room for people to go around right-turning traffic!)'

Yes... back at Candlemaker Row and Chamber St you have left and right turns in quick succession. Whilst it's annoying that some people drive on the bike lane at the dog statue - it sort of works.

I can't help feeling that Hotel Missoni is a factor.

Two very wise ideas. In fact it must be virtually the least-used right filter in the city (and it's not as if there wouldn't be room for people to go around right-turning traffic!)

DaveIt would have been simpler and better just to push the bus lane right up to the junction, and have all the cars wait in the right hand lane. It's not as if they don't have to merge into one lane for the Mound anyway.

Was suggested.
We did point out to Council that there wasn't that much traffic going down High St so a right hand filter lane was not needed. Also suggested that we could have had 'no right turn' with traffic going round by St Giles St (as it did when they were building hotel)

I saw that cycle lane the other day (from the safety of the car). What a strange thing it is!

It's hard to imagine when it would be used, because when the lights are red, cars often seem to be flush with the pavement at that point. I guess it might allow people to bump up onto the pavement down by Victoria st and ride alongside the cars until they get to the lane?

"Hotel pavement will remain - including the little cycle lane at end."

Mmm

Not impressed

They have to take kerb out to width. Then they will paint in bike lane I think. Hotel pavement will remain - including the little cycle lane at end.

Master plan is to widen pavement all the way to Candlemaker Row. So bus lane will be narrower.

We met about it around June 9th last year - although it was altered earlier.

By bike standards that's a rapid response!

I hope I'm right. I note that the pavement is being brought out to make Victoria St junction level - previously there was one metre of kerb jutting out beyond dotted line.

Assume they will do this and paint in something. Will still be tight of course as there is a bus stop just before.
